If you have a ViewLux window that needs a new installation or a failed part replaced, we stock ViewLux-compatible hardware and glass packages at our Fort Worth shop, and most swaps run between $220 and $640 per opening depending on the part and glass. We’re an independent service provider, not affiliated with ViewLux, but our techs work with these frames weekly across Tarrant County. The way most Fort Worth homeowners discover a problem is specific: a crank handle starts slipping on a casement, a sash drops an inch and won’t stay up, or condensation fogs the glass from the inside where wiping does nothing. That last one is the tell-tale sign of a failed seal, and it’s the most common ViewLux-related call we get in this climate. Texas heat cycles and UV exposure are hard on seals and balances, and a well-installed replacement part should hold up far better than the original if it’s matched to the frame correctly.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To
ViewLux builds casement, awning, single-hung, and horizontal slider lines, and the hardware differs across them more than most owners expect. A balance shoe from a single-hung will not fit into a casement operator, and even within the single-hung line, the older aluminum-clad frames used a narrower balance channel than the newer vinyl-clad series. When we arrive for a service call in Fort Worth, the first thing we do is check the corner gaskets and the etched glass code in the lower corner of the sash. The code tells us the glass package, and the channel width tells us which balance or operator the frame actually needs. If you’re looking at your own window, measure the visible glass and the overall sash width before you call. That detail alone saves a second trip.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: ViewLux OEM parts are well made and covered under their own warranty, but they often run two to three times the cost of a quality aftermarket equivalent. For balances, tilt latches, and weatherstripping, we’re comfortable recommending aftermarket parts from manufacturers we’ve tested in North Texas conditions. For glass packages, we recommend staying with the original spec or upgrading to a low-E equivalent if the original was clear glass. A mismatched glass insert changes the sash weight and can cause a balance to fail early. That’s not a guess – we’ve seen it happen in homes near TCU where older bungalows were retrofitted with new sashes into existing frames.
We also stock parts for PGT, CGI, and CWS frames, so if you have a mixed house with more than one brand, we can handle the whole list in one visit.

Signs Your ViewLux Window Installation Is Failing
- Fog or haze between the panes. This means the insulated glass unit has lost its seal. In Fort Worth’s temperature swings, the argon or krypton fill leaks out, the panes flex, and moisture gets drawn in. The fix is a new glass insert, not a wipe-down.
- Sash drops when you raise it. On single-hungs and double-hungs, the balance shoe or spiral balance has worn out. You’ll feel the sash get heavy, then one side drops faster than the other. Continuing to force it will bend the pivot bar and make a $30 part into a $200 repair.
- Crank handle spins without engaging. On casements and awnings, this is almost always a stripped gear inside the operator. ViewLux casements use a worm gear that strips when the hinge arms get stiff and someone forces the crank. Lubricating the hinges yearly prevents most of these.
- Draft or whistle at the frame edges. Weatherstripping and bulb seals compress over time, especially on west-facing walls that catch the full afternoon sun. A visible gap or a whistling sound on windy days means the seal is shot and the sash isn’t seating tight.
- Lock or latch won’t fully engage. When a sash settles or the frame shifts slightly, the keeper and latch fall out of alignment. It often starts as a sticky lock and becomes a security issue if the window can be lifted or pried from outside.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Fort Worth, most ViewLux window part replacements run between $220 and $640 per opening, installed. Here’s how that breaks down:
- Balance or pivot shoe replacement: $220 – $340 per sash, including the part and labor.
- Weatherstripping and seal replacement: $120 – $260 per window, depending on the frame style and how many seals are being replaced.
- Operator or crank mechanism replacement: $260 – $480 per casement or awning unit, including new hardware and hinge lubrication.
- Insulated glass insert replacement: $380 – $640 per sash, depending on glass size and low-E coating.
The range depends on what’s failed, whether the frame is accessible from the interior, and whether the original hardware is still in place or already mangled from being forced. Every job gets a written price before we start – no verbal estimate that changes at the end. That’s a standing rule at Lightwell. The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the finished replacement isn’t right, we make it right. No debate, no countdown.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things you can safely check yourself before calling: whether the window is locked when you’re trying to operate it, whether the track is clean and free of paint build-up, and whether the screws on the handle or hinges are loose. Those account for a surprising share of “broken” window calls. Beyond that, window work gets risky fast. Sashes are heavy, balances are under tension, and removing a casement sash without supporting the hinge arm can snap the hardware or drop the sash on someone’s hands. We don’t recommend opening up the frame on your own. If you’ve checked the simple things and the window still isn’t right, call us at (682) 900-6694 and we’ll diagnose it honestly. A service call costs less than a trip to urgent care.
FAQs
In the North Texas climate, balances and operators on ViewLux windows typically last 8 to 15 years before they show wear. West-facing windows with direct afternoon sun and south-facing windows that catch the most heat tend to fail on the earlier end of that range. Glass seals usually hold for 10 to 20 years, but Fort Worth’s winter-to-summer temperature swings can shorten that on windows that get full sun. If your windows are older than that and starting to show the signs above, a replacement part now is cheaper than waiting for a full frame replacement later. Call (682) 900-6694 for a look – we’ll tell you honestly whether the part is worth replacing or the window has reached the end of its service life.
Some parts can be repaired, but most are better off replaced. A stripped casement operator gear is not repairable in any lasting way – the gear teeth are gone. A worn balance might be restretched by a determined DIYer, but it won’t hold proper tension and will fail again quickly. Weatherstripping can sometimes be re-seated rather than replaced if it’s just pulled out of its channel. We’ll tell you which applies to your window when we see it. The goal is a fix that lasts, not one that gets you through the season. Call (682) 900-6694 and we’ll give you a straight answer before any work is scheduled.
Most single-window replacements take 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the part. A balance shoe swap is usually under an hour. An insulated glass insert into an existing sash takes longer because the sash has to be removed, the old glass unit disassembled, and the new one seated and sealed properly. If you have several windows with the same issue, we can often do them all in one morning. We plan the schedule around the work itself, not around a sales pitch. Call (682) 900-6694 to get a time estimate for your specific windows.
Our trucks carry the most common ViewLux replacement parts – balance shoes, tilt latches, weatherstripping, and casement operators – so many jobs are done on a single visit. Glass inserts are cut and sealed to the exact sash dimensions and usually take a few days to fabricate. If your part is unusual or the window is an older series, we may need to order it, and we’ll tell you the lead time before you commit to anything. The written price covers the part, the labor, and the timeline. Call (682) 900-6694 and we’ll check what’s on hand for your model.
